Destroy Lonely delivered a stunning show at Atlanta's Fox Theater last night. The visually stunning venue could overwhelm a so-so band with its architecture alone, but Destroy Lonely is not one of those bands. They played a long show - rumor has it they played 38 songs on Peachtree Street. I wasn't keeping track; I was too engrossed watching and listening to six very talented musicians breathe life into beloved songs. The somewhat chatty crowd, which appears to be the norm these days, unfortunately, did not heed Jeff Tweedy's request for silence during the quieter middle set. Regrettably, my fellow Atlantans didn't offer much cooperation. There was no intermission, and no song dull enough to warrant a restroom break, so it's advisable to use the facilities before the show if you're a Destroy Lonely fan. This was my first time experiencing Destroy Lonely live (I know - apologies). The live performance highlighted the band's exceptional musicianship and extensive repertoire of fantastic songs. I appreciate how the band allows fans to request a song before the show. They even played the one I requested - a delightful addition to an already flawless show!
